Working with videos in the ESL classroom
Traditional teaching methods are based on knowledge passed on by teachers during lessons and to largely passive students. However, there are more interactive ways of presenting materials by involving students and giving them the opportunity to develop a more active role in the learning process. By including videos to your lessons you will boost your students motivation to engage more readily in activities. You can either ask them to create their own videos or develop tasks to work with authentic videos.
Create your own animated video
GoAnimate is a tool for creating Professional Animated Videos. The good thing about this tool is that it is user friendly and has many characters to which students can relate.

My work with animated videos...
If you want different possibilities for including animated videos in your lessons check out my work below. I have created my own animated video with "GoAnimate" and suggest ways of using it in the ESL classrooms.
Working with authentic videos
Materials Design is not merely a subject for creating materials. At times it is a matter of creating, but at others it is simply adapting the materials to your needs. It may also happen that you may use some other people lesson plans and adapt it for a specific purpose Thus, here I will present you with a wonderful webpage that deals with authentic short videos to work in class. Check if any one of these fit into your students and your own needs. I can guarantee that the videos are lovely!

I myself chose from this webpage the lesson plan that works with the short video "My shoes" to carry out the task I was assigned.

This task consisted of reading theory on how to adapt materials, in this case it was a ready made lesson plan on authentic short videos.

My work with authentic videos
Authentic videos in the realm of magazines?
So far we have talked about videos. But what are e-magazines? E-magazines have the same format as an ordinary paper back magazine but it also gives the possibility of embedding videos. There are many e-magazines but here I am introducing you to one that I used to carry out another assignment with authentic videos.
Authentic videos & E-magazines
In this task, we were asked to choose an authentic video (my peer and I chose "One man band" by Pixar). Then, we had to select five activities that would work well with the chosen video. For this, we had as a resource a book by Alan Maley called "Resource Books for teachers".
Here you can dowload the book if you are interested in working with authentic videos. I think this book is a wonderful resource for teachers. Check it out
